The Ann Arbor T-shirt Company is composed of dozens of artists, screen printers, art technicians, logistics professionals, embroiderers, and support staff, all operating out of Ann Arbor, Michigan (about 40 miles west of Detroit). We proudly design, print, and embroider the majority of our products completely in our Ann Arbor, MI factory.

Our workers receive fair wages, healthcare, 401k matches, and meals. Machines, inks, and most inputs are U.S. sourced, and shirts are mostly made of U.S. cotton. Producing in-house keeps quality up and prices low. We love giving people fun ways to express themselves and strike up conversations with their neighbors.

Our illustrators and designers create the artwork, and art technicians convert it into CAD style files that the embroidery machine can read. Embroidery technicians select threads and operation settings to ensure the optimal stitching outcome, sewing the design into the fabric. Our warehouse team then checks quality, bags, and boxes the apparel for fulfillment centers across the country.

When you buy one of our products, your money is distributed across the country. Roughly 35% goes to design, printing, and production in Ann Arbor, MI; 22% to advertising and platform fees in Seattle, WA; 6% to an apparel distributor in Cincinnati, OH; 4% to logistics in Atlanta, GA; 4% to printing presses and equipment in Roselle, IL; 4% to cotton farming in Texas and the Southwest US; 3% to fabric sewing in Toluca, Mexico; and 1% to screen printing inks in Pineville, NC.

Screen printing is an art, and we ensure quality by hiring, training, and retaining skilled professionals with a thorough understanding of ink chemistry, curing heats, and apparel fibers. We also invest in top-notch QCM inks, which are better for the environment, more vibrant, and longer-lasting than cheaper alternatives. Additionally, our screen printing presses and support equipment are engineered and manufactured by M&R in Roselle, Illinois, allowing our printers to move faster with less waste, enabling us to create high-quality products at a lower cost.
